The mission of Alex's Kitchen is to provide food and fellowship for the body and soul.  We open our doors at 11:30 AM each Monday to provide jello, salad, assorted sandwiches, a hot entree and dessert.  One week, earlier in the month, we offer a sandwich lunch with chips. Most people will stay and socialize as we provide a place of warmth and hospitality.

We feed an average of 52 people per week, but our total can be as high as 75 people.  We see many of the same faces each week.

Our volunteers are very dedicated to helping people and making a bright spot in our guests’ lives.  We continue this ministry thanks to the support of the Apple Festival and The First Congregational Church of West Haven.  We also receive donations from local bakeries and canned goods from Beacon on the Hill at Our Lady of Victory Church.  Many individuals also give monetary and canned food donations for our Kitchen.

We feel blessed to be able to continue this mission.

The Kitchen was the dream of Alex Miklos, a Vietnam veteran and longtime member of our church.  Alex was involved in an accident and was left a paraplegic, but he never stopped caring about others.  He felt there was a need for a soup kitchen, and saw the opportunity to connect an outreach with the local community.
